The nominees for the May round of the 2017 David Buggy Motors Kilkenny Sport Star Awards are in and voting is officially open. Voting closes at 6pm on Bank Holiday Monday (5 June).
Evergreen FC
Evergreen’s road to the Aviva was well documented across the spring into May. Wins at home against Kilmallock of Limerick and away to Boyle Celtic in Sligo set up an FAI Junior Cup Final against Dublin’s Sheriff YC. While the result didn’t go their way in the final fixture, the efforts, heroics and support of players and fans will no doubt drive Evergreen on further as a club.
Presentation Secondary School
The first year students of city-based Presentation Secondary School were celebrating this month with a hard-fought 2-1 victory against Scoil Mhuire of Buncrana to take the First Year Girls National Cup trophy. This is the latest example from the school who continue to excel on the sporting at local and national level.
Kilkenny Rugby Club
While the Leinster League season may not have gone to plan for Kilkenny, their efforts in the Provincial Towns Plate at the turn of the month put a silver lining on the end of their J1 rugby campaign following a string of plate wins leading to a 18-9 victory over league rivals Dundalk.
