Kilkenny Golf Club’s Mark Power is set to make his senior golf debut with the Golfing Union of Ireland (GUI) team to face Metropolitan Golf Association of New York (MGA) in Galway next month.
Power finished tied 18th at Copt Heath this month in the 2017 edition of the trophy and is the youngest member of the team announced on Tuesday.
The MGA team includes one very familiar name in Stewart Hagestad. The 26 year old was this year’s low amateur at the 2017 Masters in Augusta, following 2016’s MGA Player of the Year win.
With the competition having previously featured the likes of Padraig Harrington, Paul McGinley, Shane Lowry and Paul Dunne, the inclusion of Power on the team will be sure to cast a spotlight on the rising young golfer.
