Kilkenny golfer Mark Power has starred for the Great Britain & Ireland team throughout the course of the weekend.
The Walker Cup is one of the biggest events in the amateur golf calendar and sees the best players from Ireland and Great Britain take on their US counterparts.
Kilkenny’s Power was paired with fellow Irishman John Murphy for Saturday’s foursomes and the pair came from three down with six holes to play to win on the last and give Great Britain & Ireland their first point of the competition.
Power showed that he was equally capable of putting in a stellar performance in the singles as he proved too strong for World No. 3 Davis Thompson with a 3&2 victory at Seminole Golf Club at Juno Beach, Florida.
Power was once again paired with Kinsale Golf Club’s Murphy for today’s foursomes and the pair continued where they left off from on Saturday as they ruthlessly dispatched of their American opponents Coody and Pak to go 2-0 in the foursomes.
The USA currently lead 8.5 -7.5. Whatever the outcome, Power has once again proven that he is one of the most exciting prospects in Irish golf at the moment.
