Lisdowney are once again a senior hurling team after a thrilling 2-12 to 0-15 victory over Gowran in the Michael Lyng Motors Intermediate Kilkenny Hurling Championship final on Sunday.

The win marks their triumphant return to the senior ranks, adding another chapter to the club’s proud history.

Cathal Jordon and Aidan Tallis, shared their excitement with KCLR after the final whistle. Jordon, reflecting on the journey, described the win as “unbelievable” and a dream come true for the team.

“It’s unbelievable, it’s things you dream of,” said Jordon. “We won it back in 2020. We were just young chaps back then, we didn’t really know what it meant. We probably had a small bit of a favorite tag this year, so to be able to go on, push on, and follow through—it’s unbelievable, it’s a thing of dreams.”

Goalkeeper Aidan Tallis, whose strong presence in the backs helped Lisdowney hold off a determined Gowran side, also expressed his joy and pride after the hard-fought win.

“We will definitely enjoy the next couple of nights,” Tallis said with a smile. “We’re just over the moon. The work the lads put in there in the backs with the strong wind—it was tough, but we’re just over the moon to get it over the line.”

After winning the intermediate title in 2020 on penalties during a pandemic year, the players deserve to have a few days to enjoy celebrations before hopes are set on making their mark in Leinster , the All Ireland and ultimately the hardest of them all the Kilkenny Senior Hurling Championship!
