O’Loughlin Gaels and Dicksboro played out a thrilling encounter in the Senior Hurling League Final at 2pm in UPMC Nowlan Park
The game was level eight points a piece going into halftime. Dicksboro pulled away with a six point lead until O’Loughlins managed to get a grip in the second half. Davy Burke scored the goal which rallied O’Loughlins and heading into injury time it was 1-12 to 0-15 points. Each team got a point a piece in injury time, which meant as the game needed to be finished on the day, extra time was needed.
It proved to be impossible to separate the two sides in extra time, with the each side taking the lead. O’Loughlins went two points ahead, before Aidan Nolan put the ball in the back of O’Loughlins net, 1-20 to 1-19. Just as soon as Dicksboro took the lead O’Loughlins leveled the game with a free. In needed penalties to decide the victor.
Daragh Holohan was the star for Dicksboro with two penalty saves, which allowed Dicksboro to retain their title.
