Carlow referee Paud O’Dwyer says it’s a huge boost for hurling in the County that he has been chosen to referee Sunday’s All-Ireland Senior Hurling Semi-Final clash between Cork and Limerick.
Speaking to KCLR, the Palatine native says that Croke Park give Carlow an equal opportunity for referees to take charge of high profile games.
“In fairness to Croke Park, they don’t really hold you back on where your county is from.
“They try and give everyone the same opportunity but no it’s nice alright and it’s a good boost for Carlow Hurling as well.
“It was something I was hoping for, not necessarily expecting but I was certainly hoping for.
“I knew that my name would be in the hat and just delighted now that it came out,” he said.
