Feature: Carlow Senior Football Mentor Tommy Wogan speaks to KCLR ahead of Laois game

Tommy Wogan with Kevin Regan

When it comes to Inter County teams nowadays it’s often difficult for the media to gain access to Players and Management.

However it’s well documented that this simply isn’t the case with the Carlow Senior Football set up.

Last week for only the second time I can remember there was a National press conference involving a Carlow team.

Unfortunately I couldn’t make it on the night because I was at another Carlow v Laois game at Minor level.

In other circumstances this would mean losing out on interviews and content which is often scarce ahead of big games.

But thankfully the Carlow mentors obliged as always.

I put a phone call in to Tommy Wogan, a man who I would speak to quite regularly about all things GAA and asked if he would have a chat with me ahead of the game after passing on my apologies for missing the press conference.

I asked if he wanted to meet for a coffee somewhere but instead he actually invited me to come over to his house the following morning to do the interview!

Where else would you see this at Senior Inter County level?!

The interview itself is available in the link below.
