Carlow Senior Hurler Eddie Byrne says that top class coaching has Carlow Hurling in a good place.
Speaking to KCLR ahead of Sunday’s League opener, Eddie says it’s a far more professional set-up now.
“I mean when Kevin Ryan came in first, he had Gerry Fitzpatrick with him as well and he was one of the top coaches in Ireland at the time, and the lads we have now I suppose are just as good as that.
“Colm Bonnar, Alan Malone, they are all plying their trade at the top level now down in Waterford IT and stuff and you can see the results Waterford get.
“Them lads are pushing it on all the time, it’s definitely as professional if not more now, commitment has probably stepped up a little bit more, we are training three or four times a week out on the pitch, and then you are talking gym sessions as well and it’s just everything combined I suppose, it’s about 20 or 30% more than it was 10 years ago,” he said.
