The world of martial arts continues to grow and develop in Kilkenny and spread its roots across the globe.

A trip to Athens over the June bank holiday weekend proved fruitful for three young Dragons Lair fighters, competing out of the Kilkenny Combat Academy.

16-year-old Adam Doyle brought the silver back to Kilkenny alongside 12 year old Sadhbh Moran, while 10-year-old Holly Moran brought home god in the ~30kg kickboxing along with silver in the low kick.

All three young fighters have secured medals from the competition in the past three years.

Ten year old Holly was the first to take gold for Team Ireland in Athens, having begun training at the tender age of five years old under coach Owen Doyle. Overcoming a German opponent in her first bout, she beat a tougher Ukranian opponent in the final to seal gold at ~30kg. Already with international competition experience under her belt, the future sure looks bright for the Dragons Lair prospect.

Moran will compete in a fundraising showcase event on Sunday 10 September at Kilkenny Combat Academy to raise funds for 8-year-old Rathvilly yougster Abbie Colfer who was diagnosed with Leukemia in August of last year.
