Taking a break from the league this weekend, Tipperary and Kilkenny are putting their rivalry aside to join forces for a terrific cause on what will be an emotional day at FBD Semple Stadium.
It’s close to six months since the passing of Dillon Quirke who collapsed during a hurling match and died of SADS (sudden adult death syndrome) in Semple Stadium Thurles. The Quirke family have since established The Dillon Quirke Foundation with the aim of raising awareness and saving lives by screening every GAA player from the age of 12 upwards for cardiac issues. Their first major fundraiser is this Sunday’s game between Tipperary and Kilkenny.
We’ll be in the stands with the All-Ireland-winning duo of Adrian Ronan and Michael Walsh, along with the KCLR Scoreline sports team to bring you all the action on the pitch and reaction off the pitch.
By way of fundraising, tickets are available for the game here for those who wish to attend or support from home. Get involved – donate online at dillonquirkefoundation.com or gofundme.com
Proudly sponsored by Philip Ireland Tyres Cillin Hill. The Tipp / Kilkenny rivalry is going strong in the Ireland household and Philip and Anne Marie send best wishes to the family of Dillon Quirke.
