The Carlow ladies footballers were out in Netwatch Cullen Park for their second league game of the season but slipped to a 1-12 to 2-5 defeat to London.
Bart Gilmartin, who’s was named LGFA coach of the year in the last week or two was chatting to Scoreline about the game, he’s suggesting while conditions were tough, the result was the right one.
“It as a very strong wind blowing down the pitch, Carlow had a good second quarter and then had a few minutes there where London kicked on and kicked four or five points and kind of opened up a gap,” said Bart.
“Carlow had it back to three points at one stage in the second half, just didn’t make the breakthrough”.
“London are a very good side, it shows, the fact that they’ve actually competed in the national league this year, they know they have a good team and they’re probably going to see how they get on in the Junior championship this year”.
“It was a very good game in the conditions but in the end, London were deserving winners”.
