Liam Blanchfield says that Kilkenny’s shock defeat to Westmeath in last years Leinster Under-21 Championship will serve as motivation ahead of their Championship opener against Dublin next Wednesday evening.
Speaking to KCLR, Liam says Westmeath had the greater hunger when defeating them last year.
“Yeah, it has been a long winter now and we kind of are looking back on last year and getting knocked out to Westmeath, but we are going to use that as motivation as well to kind of push on and get further this year and hopefully have a successful year”
“Westmeath wanted it more on that day, as you know anything can happen on any given day in hurling and Westmeath were better and they thoroughly deserved their win that day”
“Yeah, we know the feeling of it now so as I said hopefully we can use that as motivation to push on and get further this year”
