Outgoing Kilkenny Camogie Chairman Martin Quilty says his 5-year-term as Chairperson was made a lot easier by a strong and hardworking committee.

Martin stepped down as Chairman at last nights Kilkenny Camogie AGM, and speaking to KCLR, he admits the role was very challenging sometimes.

“My hand has also been forced upon me”, said Quilty.

“As like the GAA boys that’s there, there is five-year-rule that you can only stay in the one-term for five years.”

“It has been very stressful at times especially during this year and towards the latter end of the year as well.”

“I have worked with great people, I have a great team around me at the minute with the rest of the officers as well, we all get on so well together, it’s a fantastic environment, I have to say all our officers get on so well together, we all work together and it showed in Nowlan Park with the tremendous support that we got in hosting the games.”

Quilty’s five year terms covers a period that saw Kilkenny’s intermediate and senior sides crowned All-Ireland champions with the senior side securing the O’Duffy Cup in 2016 for the first time in over 20 years.

The senior side were runners up in 2017 and again this year while development at underage level across the county has come on leaps and bounds.
