The home of hurling in Tipperary, Semple Stadium has had its plans for renovation granted by the Thurles County Council
Planning permission has been granted for the re-development of the Kinane Stand which while still maintaining the capacity of the stadium at 45,000, will instead focus on new dressing rooms, media facilities and a gym.
The renovations to the affectionately known Old Stand are estimated to cost €8-9million and will bring Semple Stadium in line with leading GAA venues like Croke Park and Páirc Uí Chaoimh.
