Leixlip Amenities Liffey Celtics got back to winning ways on Saturday afternoon, picking up a key road win over IT Carlow Basketball, 58-73. Carlow had the better of the opening two quarters, with Alyssa Velles and Kaitlyn Slagus causing difficulties for the Celtics’ defense.
The visitors dug deep in the third, with Kylee Smith asserting her dominance inside, while young star, Niamh Masterson hit some big scores to give Liffey a seven-point lead going into the last. Momentum stayed with Celtics in the fourth, as they put in a big 26-point quarter to see them home to victory.
Meanwhile Maxol WIT Wildcats eased passed Marble City Hawks in their south east derby in Waterford on Saturday evening.
Another solid display from the Wildcats saw Jasmine Walker, Stephanie O’Shea and Debbie Ogayemi to the fore, as they kept Hawks to 22 points in the half and 43 points overall.
IT Carlow’s men’s team beat EJ Sligo All-Stars in the Men’s Division One.
78 – 65 was the final score.
