Kilkenny’s Ellen Molloy was last night named in the Women’s National League Team of the Year.

Having starred at the underage level, particularly for the Ireland Women’s Under-17s, Ellen was promoted to the senior Irish squad on the back of an impressive start to her Women’s National League career with Wexford Youths.

Her unbelievable form continued for Wexford throughout her career this season, capturing the FAI Cup at Tallaght Stadium with a player-of-the-match performance. Wexford was on course to grab their first National League title since 2018, however, the top honors ended up going to Shelbourne, where Carlow’s Aoife Kelly currently plays her trade. Still, though, Molloy managed 16 league goals before a season-ending injury, tying in third place on goalscoring charts with former Puskas award nominee Stephanie Roche.

Unfortunately the Irish international has been ruled out of next year’s world cup in Australia with a knee injury.
