County champions Mount Leinster Rangers are preparing for the final of the Carlow SHC where they will meet old rivals, St. Mullins after they disposed of Namoh Eoin in Sunday’s semi-final at Netwatch Cullen Park.
Although the weekend victory was comfortable, Ranger’s selector Pat Hickey believes there is still lots of work to do.
“We hadn’t been hitting the ground running, as a management team we expected more out of the boys, but they put in a good performance, we still have a bit to go,” said Pat.
“Our work rate was very good but the thing we weren’t going to do against Myshall (Naomh Eoin) was give away frees on our forward line, Derek Tracey would come over and put three or four over the bar every day, and that’s one thing I was very happy with”.
“Our discipline was very good and Myshall is Myshall but we were a far better team on the day”.
