The President of the Camogie Association Catherine Neary has called on people to stop talking and to actually go and watch Camogie games.

The Kilkenny native was speaking to the Irish Independent and said that people who hadn’t watched the game for 20 years were amazed at the skill level.

“I’m tired asking people to go to games, it’s time they stopped talking about it and just did it,” Neary said.

Neary added that the best way to support female sport is to go and watch it.

“The simplest thing you can do to support female sport is to go and watch it. Why wouldn’t you support your own club player, your county and your game?” she added.

Meanwhile Carlow Camogie Captain Lisa Abbey took time out from her honeymoon to attend yesterday All Ireland Camogie Championship launch.

Abbey got married in the past week and told the Irish Independent that she couldn’t miss the launch because its a big deal for Carlow to be an Intermediate team this year.

“For us to go up intermediate is also huge so I really didn’t want to miss today,” Abbey said.

“I’ve left Jason back at the hotel to come up here for a few hours but he didn’t mind. He is incredibly supportive and I honestly wouldn’t be back playing without his help,” she added.

This a true example of the dedication and committment shown in sport by females as well as males.
