Carlow Rugby Club have welcomed a change at the top table.
In the wake of last week’s club AGM, outgoing club president Edel Gibbons makes way for Tom Crotty of the Carlow bakery family, while Gibbons takes over from Melvin Elmes as new club chairperson.
The change marks an end to the five-year term served by Elmes, overseeing many difficulties across the term.
Crotty’s election as president sees colleague Derek Cope named president-elect while Brendan Carberry is in line to become club president for the 2023/24 campaign.
Ross Elmes has been named as team captain for the Carlow firsts with club training for the new season set to begin this Tuesday night.
Carlow will get back to competitive action in the newly formed Leinster League Cup on 21 August with a road trip to Ashbourne.
