Dublin GAA has named Niall Ó Ceallacháin as their new senior hurling manager, marking a new chapter for the county’s hurling ambitions. The Na Fianna clubman takes the reins from Micheál Donoghue, who has re-joined Galway to succeed Henry Shefflin.
Ó Ceallacháin brings a wealth of experience to the role, having led his Na Fianna side to the Leinster club final last year, where they narrowly lost by a single point to Kilkenny’s O’Loughlin Gaels. His leadership and tactical acumen in guiding his club to such heights have made him a standout choice for Dublin hurling.
Joining Ó Ceallacháin’s backroom team are three well-regarded figures in Dublin club hurling. Fellow Na Fianna clubman Nigel O’Hara, Donal McGovern from Kilmacud Crokes, and David Curtin of Ballyboden St. Enda’s will serve as selectors, providing a blend of experience and expertise from different corners of the capital’s hurling community.
Dublin supporters will be hopeful that Ó Ceallacháin and his team can build on the solid foundations laid in recent years and push the county towards greater success on the national stage.
Meanwhile, in Limerick, John Kiely has been confirmed to remain as hurling manager for the next two years. Kiely, who has overseen an unprecedented period of success for the Treaty County, will continue to work alongside his trusted assistant Paul Kinnerk. Together, they will aim to extend Limerick’s dominance in hurling, having already secured multiple All-Ireland titles during their tenure.
With these managerial announcements, both Dublin and Limerick are setting the stage for what promises to be another exciting season in the hurling calendar.
