“Now is the time for a multi sports facility in Kilkenny”.
That’s according to Paul Cummins of Kilkenny Storm Ice and Inline hockey club.
The former world Champion Kickboxer Cummins has long been an advocate for such a venture in Kilkenny, but says the announced government sports package would only be really only servicing the countries three main sports:
He said “The three main sports, gaa, rugby and soccer are going to get 43 million (euro) of that and that’s just the government bodies, and then the rest of it is going to be divided out between clubs, and multi purpose sports facilities will not see any part of that”.
“I’ve had so many arguments and so many meetings, this is the time for something like that, that when we come out of this, it’s ready, we now have a skate park, the skate park should have been built 15 years ago when people were skateboarding, not now when there’s nobody”.
