Katie Taylor succesfully defended her world titles Saturday after a dominating performance against Spaniard Miriam Gutierrez by unanimous decision at Wembley Arena.
Ollie O’Neill from Paulstown Boxing Club, the father of Olympian Darren O’Neill is astounded by her passion and heart for the sport of boxing:
“I seen her above in the National Stadium training in the gym, we’d be over training and sparring, and she’d get in and spar with Paddy Barnes and Michael Conlon, they’d be hell for leather, flying, you wouldn’t know who’d be the victor there you know”.
He said “She has a savage heart, and she loves boxing, I don’t know where she gets that appetite for it week in and week out, a fantastic athlete really, and a great ambassador for Ireland, I have to say that”.
