Carlow Senior Football Manager Turlough O’Brien says that themselves and Wicklow are on a level playing field.
They’ll play Wicklow in Netwatch Cullen Park on Saturday the 18th of June at 7pm.
Carlow have been drawn at home to Wicklow in the First Round of the All-Ireland Football Qualifiers, and speaking to KCLR, Turlough says despite defeating Wicklow in Aughrim in the League, Wicklow’s good record in the qualifier will make their game a challenging contest.
“We would feel that we would be on the same par as Wicklow any given day. Football now is a bit quicker, faster, the ground is harder”
“Wicklow had a good performance against Laois in the first round as well, they scored quite highly and put it up to Laois”
“They would have a good track record in the qualifiers as well over the past few years. They would be nothing simple about it. Wicklow have obviously taken the approach that the qualifiers offers more than the provincial Championships”
