In a year brimming with stellar performances and unforgettable moments , one name stood out – Paddy Deegan.

The O’Loughlin Gaels stalwart has been rightfully crowned the AIB GAA Club Hurler of the Year, capping off a remarkable season filled with triumphs and near misses.

Deegan’s leadership and prowess were instrumental in guiding his team to county and provincial glory, culminating in a captivating journey to the All-Ireland Final. Despite falling short against Galway’s St Thomas’, Deegan’s indomitable spirit and skill shone brightly throughout the campaign, earning him widespread acclaim.

The announcement of Deegan’s triumph in the Player of the Year race was met with resounding applause, as he edged out formidable contenders like David Burke and his own clubmate, David Fogarty.

Sharing the limelight with Deegan are his fellow O’Loughlin Gaels teammates Huw Lawlor, David Fogarty, and Mark Bergin, who were also named in the prestigious Team of the Year.

Reflecting on his accolade, Deegan expressed gratitude for the honor bestowed upon him, emphasizing the significance of family and club in his journey. “That’s a great honor. Look, my family are obviously very proud and the club as well,” Deegan remarked, visibly moved by the recognition. “Rhere’s about three or four tables full of people from all O’Loughlins there, so it’s a great night and it’s great to be recognised.”

As the Kilkenny captain, Deegan’s triumph resonates beyond individual achievement, serving as a source of inspiration for aspiring hurlers and a testament to the enduring legacy of club hurling.
