2015 All-Star recipient and Kilkenny senior hurler Paul Murphy sat down with KCLR for a chat about his side’s league campaign opportunities for 2016.

From the winter break to the All-Star trip in the US (where, incidentally, Murphy bagged himself a few goals from the forward line), to facing Waterford this weekend and beyond, Murphy gives his insight as to where Kilkenny are right now and what chances the league will present over games against Waterford, Tipperary, Dublin and the likes.

When asked how important a good start for Kilkenny is, Murphy suggests two words – absolutely massive.

“Like we saw last year, we won our first match but then found it hard to get points on the board and found ourselves in relegation.

Every match is hugely important – if you can just keep yourself away from relegation, finding out a bit about players but also you want yourself to be at the business end of the league as soon as the matches are over.

If we could win our first two matches, it would be absolutely massive – it would take the pressure off for the rest of the league really.”

Watch the full video interview below.

KCLR will have live commentary of Kilkenny and Waterford’s league opener at Walsh Park, this Sunday at 2pm all with thanks to Countrystyle Foods, Granagh, Kilmacow – as local as it gets.
