Kilkenny boxer, Emma Keating is joining her Irish teammates for a training camp this week ahead of the European Champioship.
The Paulstown Boxer was scouted to represent Ireland earlier this year after claiming victory in the U18 championship.
Currently see is in Dundalk in a training camp for the week. Basically training as a professional with the rest of the Irish squad.
“We will be staying in a hotel, getting our breakfast and meals. Then going to camp training three sessions a day, just to build up our fitness and our stamina with high-performance coaches.”
Speaking of her local training within the county Keating was quick to point out the influence Paulstown boxing club has had on her burgeoning career.
“They are the main reason I am here. Without them, I wouldn’t be where I am today. Ollie O’Neil is just amazing.”

It is brilliant to see her school also getting behind her, with Borris Vocational school putting up posters around the town to show their support.
Is it possible that Emma will join the heights of Kellie Harrington and Katie Tayloe, only time will tell. However, the teenager is encouraged by the heights female boxing has reached in recent times.
“It was always about the male boxers but because of Katie Taylor and Kellie Harrington and all the upcoming boxers, it just encourages all the young girls. It is amazing.”
