Carlow Senior Football manager Turlough O’Brien says the fact that players are ringing looking to come into the County Team shows the change of attitude that has been emerging.
Speaking ahead of Carlow’s opening clash away to London next weekend, Turlough says their will be players disappointed not to even make the squad…..
“I suppose for the first time in my lifetime anyway, I would say their are players ringing up looking to come in to play with the county team”
“Look, we have a great squad of players there, we have a hardcore of experienced footballers who are still young but are very experienced, very committed to Carlow, they are the backbone of it and we brought in a lot of players now as well who are really shaping up very very well, so the panel is stronger now than it has been since I have started anyway certainly”
“Competition for places to get into the squad alone is ferocious and their will be a lot of lads disappointed their are not going to London next weekend because they can’t make the 26 for this game, but that will change then probably for the next round as well”
