Premier League: The when and where of match week six

After a whole host of midweek fixtures, and no “When and where of match week five” to read (Thanks Robbie!), we are back with match week six.

Starting us off is none other than the Merseyside Derby. Things could go from bad to worse for Frank Lampard’s Everton, who have just been abysmal this season. Liverpool seems to be hitting their stride after the Manchester United loss, shipping nine passed Bournemouth and a dramatic last-minute win over Newcastle. The Toffees have only won against Liverpool once in their last 23 tries in the Premier League, with that victory coming under the stewardship of Carlo Ancelloti in 2019.

There is a whole host of games then at 3 pm with many new faces possibly lining out for sides after the end of the transfer window. Chelsea has completed the signing of former Arsenal striker Pierre Emerick Aubameyang from Barcelona for 10.3 million pounds, in the hope they can start firing again. They will face a buoyed West ham who got a point of Spurs after getting their first victory last week against Aston Villa. Leeds will travel to Brentford, after breaking their hearts last year with two last-gasp goals in each premier league game.

Nottingham Forest looks like a completely different side to last year with signing roughly 4,654 players during the window, they will play a Scott Parker-less Bournemouth in a battle between the two newly promoted sides. Crystal Palace has picked up points, yet failed to win in their last three away games, making Patrick Viera’s side very difficult to beat. However, there may be some unrest after starman Wilfred Zaha lamented the fact The Eagles go too defensive every time they go up. In another London derby, Fulham goes to the Tottenham Hotspur stadium to play Spurs, while Southampton will hope to build momentum, after they bested Chelsea, and pick up full points versus Wolves. Finally, Manchester City will no doubt aim to heap misery on Aston Villa, Erling Haaland will be present looking like a scary prospect for the Villians’ defense.

There are only two games happening on Sunday, with Sky Sports the destination for those wanting to watch. The day begins with high-flying Brighton going head-to-head with bottom-placed Leicester. Brendan Rodgers really needs to start turning this ship around, but the loss of Wesley Fofana to Chelsea would of been a crucial blow to any European hopes. Speaking of highflying, Arsenal are riding a crest of a wave winning all of their five fixtures so far and sitting atop of the Premier League. They take on Manchester United who are stringing together some impressive results themselves. With a United victory, they go within three points of the Gunners, making the top of the table look a bit more interesting.
