Gowran Park
Tuesday, July 4
First Race: 6.00pm

A competitive seven-race card gets going at Gowran Park from 6.00pm on Tuesday evening.

The opening Irish Stallion Farms EBF Median Auction Maiden has already seen some support for the Ger Lyons-trained Masucci.

The Zoffany colt finished third on his debut at Roscommon and looks likely to go off favourite on this second racecourse start under Colin Keane, who will be carrying the blue and white colours of Lyons’s long-standing supporter, Sean Jones.

The highest quality race of the evening is the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Median Auction Auction Race (7.30) where Andy Slattery’s Branch Line will be bidding to follow up on his recent Limerick win. However, that was recorded over six furlongs, and the Rip Van Winkle colt has yet to demonstrate an ability to stay this mile and a furlong trip, as his only other victory was recorded over seven furlongs.

If Branch Line does not stay, Ger Lyons could well be the go-to man again, as he is represented by Curragh maiden winner Elegant Pose. Again, the mount of stable jockey Colin Keane, Elegant Pose should have no problems with the trip as his maiden win was recorded over a mile and he stayed on strongly that time.

Gustavus Vassa has a similar profile in that he has won his only start for Andy Oliver while Ken Condon’s Furiosa is a previous course and distance winner at Gowran.

With racing underway at 6.00pm, the ground at Kilkenny’s only racecourse is currently good.

With thanks to Horse Racing Ireland and the Racing Post
