Paul Cummins from the Kilkenny Storm Ice Hockey team says the recognition from Kilkenny County Council about the need for a multi-purpose arena is a big win for them.
The council, at a recent meeting, said they supported the plan and adopted it into policy.
Paul told scoreline.ie that he needs clarity on what that means and told us what they’re actually looking for:
“This is the mistake and the hurdle that we’ve always had to make is that people presume that we want an ice rink in Kilkenny, a permanent ice hockey rink which is never something we would propose cause it’s Dublin where that needs to be,” said Paul.
“What we really wanted and what we’ve always been fighting for is a multi-purpose sports facility where our club and many clubs like ours can actually play high impact hardcore sports where we are not worried about damaging walls and damaging floors and stuff like that, there’s nothing like that in Kilkenny” he added.
