Palatine 2-15, Tinryland 1-13
Palatine made a winning start to their senior football championship campaign with a five point win over neighbours Tinryland at Netwatch Cullen Park yesterday evening.
The sides were evenly matched in the opening half and it was an excellent goal from Palatine’s left half forward Shane O’ Neill that was the difference at half time Palatine 1-6, Tinryland 0-6.
However Craig Kearney in the Palatine goal had to bring of a superb save from Niall Lowry just before the break Palatine stepped up their game in the last period picking off some neat points and when Jason Kane sent a pile driver to the net for their second goal the game was slipping from Tinryland.
Tinryland never gave up and Matthew O’Toole with a well taken goal revived Tinryland but Palatine moved in to a higher gear, Shane O’Neill kicked 1-5 for Palatine.
