Hurling

We have four live games on KCLR this weekend.

On Friday night, we’ll be live from Danesfort at 7 pm for live commentary of Bennettsbridge’s clash with James Stephens.

Both sides are coming into this game off the back of defeats in the previous round following wins in their first game.

Brendan Hennessy and Mark Dowling will be calling all the action with thanks to Nolan’s Gala. Clara meets Tullaroan at the same time on Friday. We’ll have reports from that game and Erin’s Own’s clash with Glenmore on Friday night.

2013 and 2015 champions Clara got their first win of the season on Sunday when they dispatched Danesfort.

Speaking after that match, Clara manager Mick Purcell said that integrating young players into the panel has been key for the club this year.

Robbie Dowling and former Blacks and Whites manager Eddie Scally cast their eye over all the action from the weekend’s senior, intermediate and junior league and championship games as well as looking ahead to the next round of action.

Young Irelands have advanced to the Revise.ie Under 19 Championship Semi Final after defeating Danesfort last night.

Tullogher Rosbercon now stands in their way of a place in the final.

Mullinavat take on St. Patrick’s tonight in the JJ Kavanagh & Sons Junior A Championship Quarter Final.

Throw-in is at 7, with the winner taking on Dicksboro in the next round

Soccer

Both Australia and England are looking to reach the Women’s World Cup final for the first time this morning.

They meet at Stadium Australia in Sydney, in the second of this week’s semi-finals.

Australia head coach Tony Gustavsson must decide whether or not to start Sam Kerr for the first time in the tournament. Kick-off is at 11am, and the winners will play Spain in Sunday’s final.

The UEFA Super Cup match takes place tonight.

Champions League winners Manchester City face Europa League champions Sevilla in Athens. Kick-off is at 8pm.

City will be looking to strengthen their squad with the news that Kevin de Bruyne is set to be out until the New Year with a hamstring problem.

Locally the draw for the Pat Maher Shield, which was supposed to happen last night, did not go ahead as planned.

After contact with the Kilkenny District league, they could not give a definitive time when the fixtures will be announced.

Transfers

Chelsea last night agreed a fee of 62 million euro with Southampton for Romeo Lavia.

The 19-year old Belgian is now set for a medical with the Stamford Bridge club.

Lavia is the second midfielder inside a week to opt for Chelsea after Liverpool had agreed a deal with their club.

Meanwhile, Neymar has joined the Saudi Pro League. The 31-year-old Brazilian has moved to Al Hilal from Paris Saint Germain (pr: Zherman) for 90 million euro.

Horse racing

The Hurry Harriet Listed flat race day goes ahead today in Gowran Park.

The eight race card goes to post at 25 to 5
