Kilkenny Senior Camogie Manager Brian Dowling says that the girls made an instant impact on him since coming on board as a Selector under Anne Downey last year.
Speaking to KCLR ahead of Kilkenny’s opening National League clash against Waterford this Sunday, Brian says the girls are starting to get the credit and recognition they deserve for their commitment to the cause.
He said “First time we met was January 6th (last year), we played Slaughtneil in a challenge game, we had no training done and I was very impressed with the girls that night, we had no hurling done and their touch was sharp and their fitness was very good, no I was very impressed with the girls”.
“Probably the most thing I was impressed with was their attitude and their commitment, I think people from the outside don’t realize what they actually put into it, it’s the same as the men’s, I have been there before with the men’s and I know what it’s like, but the girls do the same and they probably don’t get the recognition but I think it is getting better, it is getting better”.
