Shamrocks manager James O’Connor believes his side was careless in their victory over St. Rynagh’s in Tullamore on Sunday.
The defending All-Ireland champions survived a sending-off of Joey Cuddihy to dramatically drag the game to extra time after a late Eoin Cody goal.
Despite the victory, the Lismore man admitted he was disappointed with his side’s second-half performance.
“I was very disappointed with some of our shooting in the second half,” said James.
“There was five or six points there that were well within range and we were driving balls wide, a bit careless I have to say”.
“The lads are after getting a good tongue lashing o ver that, they’re things that put you under pressure then, down to 14 men you just can’t be missing those frees”.
“Thankfully we came out of it in extra time, played really well, got some great scores, fitness, and everything held up, very happy in the end”.
Shamrocks will now face Laois champions Clogh Ballacolla in Croke Park this Sunday at 1.15 pm.
