Tullow’s Dannah O’Brien has been hailed as an “incredible talent” by former Ireland international and BBC analyst Eliza Downey following her impactful performance for Leinster in their 27-7 win over Munster in the Interprovincial Final last weekend in Belfast.
O’Brien, who came off the bench to contribute a conversion and a penalty, made her first appearance of the season after recovering from injury.
O’Brien’s return to action was met with widespread praise, particularly from Downey, who highlighted the young player’s flair and unpredictability on the field. Speaking to KCLR, Downey expressed her admiration: “She’s an incredible talent. She’s a player that I love to watch because she still has that piece of flair that I don’t know what she’s going to do next. Maybe for some coaches, that can be a bit of a headache, but she just has that rawness that can make things out of nothing on a pitch and create opportunities for the players around her.”
With her provincial duties for Leinster now complete, O’Brien is shifting her focus to international play. She is set to be a key figure in Ireland’s upcoming clash with Australia later this month and will also be participating in the prestigious WXV 1 tournament.
O’Brien wasn’t the only Tullow player to feature in Leinster’s victory; Anna Doyle also made an appearance, coming off the bench in the second half and contributing to the team’s strong finish.
