The new synthetic pitch coming to St. Patrick’s boys club in Carlow will be a game changer for the club according to Liam Byrne.

Byrne spoke about the exciting times for everyone associated with the Carlow soccer club. He revealed that the long-awaited pitch is on the cusp of an official opening date.

He said: “We’re coming towards the finishing date. We don’t have a date yet but we’re hoping that it will be ready to go by the first week in January. We’re really excited to get it up and running.”

Byrne elaborated on the importance of having the pitch available to the club, particularly during the winter.

“The pitch gives us the option to play on a Saturday evening or during midweek. It also allows us to give recovery time for our grass pitches.”

The Carlow man also believes the pitch will attract local people to attend matches on a more frequent basis.

“We hope that it will attract supporters from Graiguecullen.”
