It’s a busy time for the St. Senan’s athletics club in south Kilkenny.
Cross-country season is about to get underway with the traditional opener for the Kilmacow-based club being their open cross-country event. It’s set to be staged on Sunday 25 September.
From under 8s to seniors, there are plenty of events taking place on the day. For both girls and boys, there are 300m (U8), 500m (U9) and 600m (U10) with prizes awarded for the first ten in each category. Under 12, 14 and 16 will compete at 1000m, 1500m and 2000m.
Under 18 and junior girls will have two 3000, events while under 18 boys and juniors will compete at 4000m and 7000m with the first three individuals and first three teams (four to score) in the prize places.
Cash prizes are on offer for the firee three senior men (7000m) and senior women (3000m) with further places for the first three vets (men), over 35 woman and the first three juniors.

Leinster championships await
Athletics Leinster also recently announced the venues for their upcoming cross-country championships.
The Athletics Leinster Novice, Junior and Juvenile Even Ages competitions will be held on Sunday 23 October at Bellugan Park, Dundalk, set to be hosted by Athletics Louth.
St. Senan’s will again serve as the host club for the Athletics Leinster Senior and Juvenile Uneven Ages competitions on Saturday 5 November with Mountain View, Ballyhale, providing the backdrop.
