Wales v Switzerland

Mateusz Zych will be smiling on Saturday evening as his Switzerland side left Jamie Kavanagh’s Wales side with a three goal deficit to kick off their Group A campaign in the ElectroCity FIFA20 European Championships.

With nothing to separate the sides in the first half, Switzerland drew first blood five minutes after the restart.

An Embolo cross from the byline was fisted into the path of Benfica’s Haris Seferović who was waiting on the edge of the area, cutting past four Welsh defenders to slot home from 12 yards to open the Swiss account.

Embolo turned provider again on 83 minutes, picking up a deft one-time pass in the middle off the park from Fassnacht, cutting to the edge of the box, leaving Ethan Ampadu chasing shadows as he squared for Renato Steffen to rifle home from six yards to make it 2-0, his left-footed effort needing the help of the post to make the back of the net.

Steffen returned the favour four minutes later, threading a low pass to Embolo in the box.

The Borussia Mönchengladbach forward got the better of Ampadu for a second time, turning on his right to fire home from 12 yards and leave Wayne Hennessy stranded in the Welsh net.

Final score Switzerland 3, Wales 0 as the Swiss move to the top of Group A.
