There was disappointment for Team Ireland’s Tess Arbez in her first out at the 2022 Winter Olympics on Monday morning.
Arbez, with family ties to Carlow, crashed out of her Giant Slalom event in the early hours of the morning, her DNF classification ruling her out of the second stage of the day.
The Ice River course claimed a total of 19 casualties with Arbez taking a fall in the second intermediate.
“I feel really disappointed right now, the conditions were so tricky out there, it was very icy”, said Arbez after the fact.
“A lot of people came down, and it felt very different to how it was the past few days. I know I’m really pleased to be at my second Olympics, but it is hard. I will process what happened in the run with my coach and refocus so that I can be ready for the Slalom on Wednesday.”
Elsa Desmond competes in the Women’s Singles Luge Run 1 and Run 2 later today.
