Young Irelands and Kilkenny corner-forward Charlie Carter is our guest for this episode of The Clash Act, hosted by Eddie Scally.
From humble beginnings playing primary school hurling in Gowran to leaving St. Kieran’s College early for the family farm, to his breakthrough into minor grade and his time in the senior camp with Kilkenny, there’s so much to talk about.
Carter was part of that famed 1996 Young Irelands team who lifted the Kilkenny senior county title, a feat repeated in 2002 that would see him named captain of Kilkenny for a time in 2003. He would depart the inter-county scene that year in controversial circumstances, a story still talked about some 19 years later.
In more recent years, he’s been coaching with Myshall (2022) and has a keen eye on the breeding of horses that ultimately led to running a winner at the Leopardstown Christmas Festival in 2021.
We’ll cover all that and more in this edition of The Clash Act.
