World number one Jon Rahm will lead out Europe on the opening day of golf’s Ryder Cup in Wisconsin. The US Open champion forms an all Spanish partnership with Sergio Garcia to take on American pair Jordan Spieth and Justin Thomas in the opening foursomes match.
Paul Casey and Viktor Hovland are to take on Dustin Johnson and Collin Morikawa.
Lee Westwood and Matt Fitzpatrick are up against Brooks Koepka and Daniel Berger.
And Rory McIlroy and Ian Poulter are to play Patrick Cantlay and Xander Schauffele.
McIlroy says unity is Europe’s biggest strength.
“The Americans are playing for the country. What do we play for? Well we play for each other. The overriding feeling when we come to the Ryder Cup is we play for the guy standing next to us. That is why our team dynamic works so well.”
