KCLR will broadcast every game starting with the Shield and League finals that pit James Stephens against O’Loughlins at 1 pm before turning our attention to Dicksboro’s clash with Glenmore at 3 pm. Both those games throw in at UPMC Nowlan Park.

At half past 4 on Saturday, we’ll be in Callan for the relegation semi-final clash between Ballyhale Shamrocks and Danesfort.

Sunday begins with the meeting of Graigue Ballycallan and Clara in the first round. Throw-in at UPMC Nowlan Park is 1 o’clock and speaking to KCLR ahead of the game, Clara’s Liam Ryan believes his side’s experience in the championship will stand to them.

“We have a fabulous panel. We have more experienced players and we have great lads coming through as well. Even for them, they know that Clara has that experience. We’re always saying that to them.”

“Once it comes to the championship everything goes back to scratch and you work and you start from there and you can’t leave any holes unturned come championship. “

“You have one shot at and you have to get right then. There’s no excuses come championship I’m afraid.”

The second game of the day in UPMC Nowlan Park sees Tullaroan face Bennettsbridge at 3pm. Our final weekend match is at 5 o’clock on Sunday as Erin’s Own and Mullinavat face off in Danesfort in the other relegation semi-final.

If your a fan of Kilkenny Hurling, listen to KCLR’s Kilkenny Hurling podcast.

In the seventh episode, we pick our Senior Team of the League and our Intermediate Team of the Week.

We also look ahead to the first round of the senior championship and the intermediate quarter-finals as well as asking the question – are 5 pm throw-ins too late?
