Kilkenny Manager Ann Downey says she is really proud of the girls for the way they responded in the second half.

Speaking to KCLR after the game, Ann says that the girls died with their boots on but added that the result has left them heartbroken.

“No words can console us. To lose a game in added time really is heartbreaking,” Ann said.

“I’m really proud of the way the girls picked themselves up in the second half, I suppose we were a little bit slow to get out of the traps in the first half.

“They died with their boots on and they didn’t let the side down, Gemma O’Connor got a great score to level it and they got a super score to win and we just have to learn from these mistakes.

“Were a young team and I couldn’t speak highly enough of them.

“Were Heartbroken but that’s sport.

Ann was already looking to the future positively despite the disappointment.

“The main thing is to stick together and work hard. Cork were the better team, and you have to put your hand up and accept that but this isn’t the end of the road by any means,” she concluded.
