Thomastown 2-08

Dicksboro 1-10

Thomastown are the new Kilkenny Senior Camogie champions following a one-point victory over Dicksboro in Saturday’s decider in Freshford.

A late point from Eva Hynes was the crucial score as they pulled off an incredible victory over the seemingly unstoppable Dicksboro team.

Hynes set the pace early on for Thomastown with four consecutive points from the classy half forward giving Ger Walsh’s side a 0-04 to 0-02 lead after 15 minutes.

Thomastown continued to dominate as Eimear Farrell left Kirsty Maher with no chance when she fired a low shot past the Dicksboro goalkeeper to grab the first goal of the clash.

Anna Doyle, Sarah Barcoe and Therese Donnelly extended their lead to eight points before Amy Clifford and Aoife Prendergast made it 1-07 to 0-04 at the interval.

Aobha O’Gorman and Eva Hynes exchanged goals at the start of the second half before a combination of Orlaith Hanrick and Asha McHardy brought the sides level as the game moved towards its conclusion.

Hynes then stepped up when it mattered most to get the winning point from play and help crown Thomastown as the new senior champions, while they also dethroned the reigning champions in the process.
