Tullaroan 1-24
Bennettsbridge 0-13
Tullaroan have been crowned St Canice’s Credit Union Kilkenny Senior Hurling League champions following a comfortable victory over Bennettsbridge in UPMC Nowlan Park on Saturday afternoon.
A Gearoid Dunne goal early in the first half sent last year’s defeated semi-finalists on their way as they proved far too strong for an underwhelming Bennettsbridge outfit.
It was a surprising performance from Willie Maher’s men as they failed to back up five consecutive wins in the group stages of the league in today’s flat decider.
Bill Gaffney, John Walton, Shane and Padraig Walsh led the charge for Ken Coogan’s side as they went into half-time with a deserved 1-10 to 0-06 lead.
They continued to maintain their control of the game throughout a disappointing second half for neutrals at the game as they had the perfect result before next weekend’s first round championship clash.
