During UFC 258 on Saturday night/Sunday morning, the UFC released details of their next marquee event and the champion-laden poster that goes along with it.
UFC 259 is booked for Saturday 6 Mach at the UFC Apex facility in Las Vegas which has been hosting fan-less fights for the bulk of the past year.
While the roar of the crowd will be missing from the likes of the T-Mobile Arena, fans tuning into the PPV from the Apex will be in for a treat with three titles on the line and a busy preliminary card propping up the main show.
Provided everything goes to plan and everyone stays healthy, we’ll be seeing undefeated Israel Adesanya (20-0) make his step-up from middleweight to light-heavyweight as he goes after Polish powerhouse Jan Blachowicz (27-8) in an effort to become the promotion’s latest double-champ.
A double-champ herself, Amanda Nunes (20-4) returns to the cage for the first time since last June’s unanimous win over Felicia Spencer to face Megan Anderson (10-4) for the women’s featherweight crown.
At bantamweight, Aljo Sterling (19-3) finally gets his shot at gold when he faces Petr Yan (15-1) for the 135 strap.
Dominick Cruz returns from the commentary table to headline the prelim card with a bantamweight bout against rising star Casey Kenney while Joe Benavidez will be hoping for a return to the win column when he meets Askar Askarov at flyweight.
We’ll be breaking down the big fights on All Things MMA later this month.
