The Joe McDonagh Cup is back after a small bit of respite, with a single weekend off.
Carlow in particular may be happy for the break, as three weeks in a row The Barrowsiders never took their foot off the pedal. A huge opening-round result against Kildare earned the side a well-deserved 2 points. This was followed by two epic encounters that came down to the wire, with Carlow sharing the spoils with both Kerry and Laois.
Now Carlow finds themselves coming into this weekend’s clash with Down undefeated and in good stead for a Joe McDonagh final, considering their goal difference. the big test will come on the final game of the group stages, with the so far undefeated Offally standing in their way.
Speaking to KCLR Scoreline after the draw with Laois, Carlow shot-stopper Brian Treacey outlines the heart within the team;
“It’s not anyone individually in the group, it’s everyone, Carlow wins, everyone wins. That is our mentality, we work hard. It does not matter who gets the scores, we all work together. We have maybe 37 on the panel and we are all just working our socks off.”
Tune into Carlow and Down live this Sunday from 1 pm with thanks to Ray Whelan Waste Management, and listen back to the full interview with Brian below on Scoreline Extra.
