After Kilkennys devastating defeat against Cork, Cats Hurler Richie Leahy joined us on KCLR’s The Way It Is to discuss the loss and the final between Cork & Limerick.

Richie was ruled out of the encounter and could only look on from the stands as the epic clash unfolded before his eyes. A hamstring injury ruled the Rower man out of action however he has since returned to the field. Speaking with KCLR about the loss he said

“We were so close, the boys tried so hard on the day. It was disappointing , we are still upset over it”

“Cork are real young team, they are fast and quick. They took us on in the second half and it worked in their favour. The breaks did go there way in a certain way. Shane Kingston came on and got like seven points against us. He was just in the right place at the right time.”

“We were throwing the kitchen sink at them and they weathered the storm. To get the draw we did well but in extra time they pushed on. The goal was a kick in the teeth that Jack O’Connor got. It was at the wrong time in extra time. They were buzzing after that, the momentum changed”
