Gowran native Brogan McAviney has taken on the challenge to swim 100KM throughout the month of May, in open water, for Pieta House.
At 17-years-old, McAviney is well regarded as swimming sensation.
In 2019 he won national swimming titles with gold medals in the 50m & 100m Free/200m Fly & 200m Free. He also went onto win a county minor Roinn B medal with Young Irelands. We could yet be adding him to our best dual athletes list.
“I will be doing this to raise funds and awareness for mental health and suicide prevention all over Ireland through Pieta House. Your donation will go towards supplying crucial counselling services and awareness campaigns for people in distress. Any support you can give me to complete this challenge is greatly appreciated. Stay safe and look after each other.”
At time of writing, he’s already smashed his €1,000 fundraising goal, with over €2,000 already in the pot. If would like to donate, visit 100KforMay on gofundme.com.
From all of us at Scoreline.ie, we wish Brogan the very best in his efforts!
