Carlow Senior Football Manager Turlough O’Brien says the young players stepped up to the plate during the O’Byrne Cup campaign.

Carlow begin their Division 4 National League campaign at home to Wicklow on Saturday evening in Netwatch Cullen Park, and speaking to KCLR, Turlough says there is strength in depth developing in the panel.

He said “A lot of young players in, they did really really well, they stepped up to the mark and we were very very pleased to what we saw there so there is definitely strength in depth developing in the panel”.

“The O’Byrne Cup really is about giving those lads the opportunity to play at that level, it was great for the likes of Robbie Kane there Mikey Bambrick, Ben Dorgan, lads like that Niall Roche, Conor Crowley, Andrew Kehoe, they all got game time and they did very very well”.
